General Information and Policies

Please bring your book to class every day.

For all classes, students need something to write on, something to write with and something in which to keep their papers and notes.   I do not do portfolios so students will not have to re-turn in graded papers that have been returned to them.    Please - no fluorescent green, orange or yellow ink on papers that will be turned in and no metallic silver or gold  or pale colors unless they're on dark paper.

Boxes of tissue are appreciated but brown paper towels are available as needed!

I recommend students have a small calculator with basic and simple science functions.   I do have a limited number of calculators available for students to use in class but they go fast.

I recommend that students keep papers that are returned to them for the current six weeks minimum.  No system is perfect and the gradebook does hiccup from time to time; I have been known to do the same although both occurences are rare :)   Papers and notes  kept for the semester can be a huge study aid when finals time arrives.

I have a real problem with cells phones because of the distraction they represent and because of the use of text messaging for cheating.   Cell phone use is prohibited  everywhere on the LDHS campus at all times and cell phones being used on campus will be confiscated.  You must pay a penalty to the school of $15 to get the phone back.   I enforce this policy without exception.

Music players of any sort may ONLY be used with my direct permission.  If you are listening during class (or look like you are), you will probably have your music player taken up and returned at the end of the week.

Tutorials are Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:05 - 8:25 or by appointment.   We have staff meetings every Thursday morning so Thursday mornings are not available.   Students are welcome in my room before and after school any day except Thursday but please be aware that I may not be in my room on a "non-tutorial" day.
