January 2007 "Welcome Back to School" I hope that everyone enjoyed their holiday break and is ready to get back into school. We will be taking the SDAA II/TAKS practice test at the end of January.  5th grade is a high stakes grade as far as your student needing to meet the testing requirement set in their ARD in order to go to 6th grade.  This first administration counts as their 1st attempt.  If they pass the practice in January, they will have passed to go on to 6th.   They will still have to take the test in April, however if they pass the January test and not the April, they will be fine.  I still want them to do well on the April test but it will take some of the pressure off of them.  If you need any further explanation, please feel free to contact me.   Homework Each night your child will bring home a book that they are to read for 15-20 minutes each night or the chapter that has been assigned to them.  Everyone should have an Accelerated Reader (AR) book or books that have been picked specifically for your child. After listening to your student read, please sign the homework log.   Please remember to sign your child's homework each night!!!
