I am June Gajewski and I am the counselor at Lake Dallas Primary School and also, part-time at Shady Shores Elementary School.  The students call me Mrs. "G"    It has  been my pleasure to be a counselor in Lake Dallas ISD for 16 years! During the year,  I conduct group and individual  counseling sessions.   Topics for discussion  -  newcomers,  family crisis and change,  grief, behavior, social skills etc.  If you would like your child to participate in counseling sessions next year, please contact me at Lake Dallas Primary or Shady Shores Elementary.

Also,  I visit the classrooms  and present lessons about the importance of being a person of character. In grades 3 and 4 we focus on social skills and in K-2, I  use the framework developed by the Character Counts Coalition., which is an alliance of hundreds of leading educational, youth-serving, and community organizations dedicated to strengthening the character of youth.  The "Six Pillars of Character" are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.  Each six weeks, in my newsletter,  I list the concepts of one of the character traits and give ideas for teaching them at home. One of the most important challenges parents face is to help our children develop strong characters based on good values.

Today, more than ever, our students need to learn more than the three R's to become productive citizens of the future.  We hope you will join us in our efforts to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through character education.  By instilling in children a strong sense of values we are better preparing them for success as adolescents and adults.
