Welcome to 8th Grade Language Arts
Our mission this year will be to show improvement in all areas of communication: writing, speaking, reading fluency, ability to analyze literature, research skills, spelling, and vocabulary by utilizing higher level thinking strategies. We will be using classic and contemporary literature to provide us with examples of successful, fluent writing. All students will be encouraged to find their personal styles and voices while increasing their reading and writing fluencies by learning how to understand and manipulate diction, syntax, imagery, point of view, and detail. Grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and usage will be taught through the writing process, analytical reading, and literature imitation.
