Zero and Late Work Policy

English and Reading teachers at the middle school strongly encourage students to complete work in a timely manner.  In the event that work is not turned in on time, the following grade reductions will occur:
Assignments turned in one day late will result in a 10-point grade reduction.
Assignments turned in two days late up to one week late will result in a 30-point grade reduction.
Assignments turned in on or after the eighth day late will result in a 50-point grade reduction and will only be accepted until the end of the fifth week of each 6-week marking period.  *

*Essay papers and projects will be accepted, with the previously mentioned point reductions, for no more than one week past their due date.  Failure to turn in these assignments will result in a grade of zero.

It is the students' responsibility to make sure to bring their papers from home, or the bus, and turn them into the correct teacher at the proper time.  It is also the student's responsibility to make sure they come to tutorials if needed, ask to borrow books, ask for help, and/or get make-up work completed and turned in.
All assignments for the week will be posted on the board, in my room, Monday through Friday. It should be easy for students to see what is expected (class work) of them each week.  I have all students write their assignments on their Agenda Sheet in their MOOSE Binder every Monday.  So as parents, please check their Agenda every Monday for the weeks assignments.  Students and parents also have access to my web-page.  I try to have each 6 weeks on the Assignment Tab.  If not, it is updated every Friday with the assignments and projects listed.  This is a great way to keep up with your child's school assignments.
