WELCOME TO PAINTING 2 FOR THE '07-'08 SCHOOL YEAR!
Painting 2 is a studio based survey class of various painting styles and media. Students learn watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oil painting and multi media techniques while expanding on the use of the elements, principles and composition covered in Art 1. Still life, landscape, portraiture and non-objective painting styles are covered, as well as different artistic sytles and developments.
JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS
Students will have a journal assignment due every Friday. The assignmnent consists of three entries in their sketchbook. The entries can be visual - a drawing, or written - a poem, random writing, etc, musical, or observational. Anything that relates to art.

APRIL STUDIO WORK
SILK PAINTING
Students will produce radial designs and render then using colored inks on silk fabric. They will use Batik waxing techniques, and look at radial designs from nature and selected mandelas.
PAINTED MONOPRINTS
Students will create a series of monoprint paintings using both caron d'ache and monotype inks.
