Summer time is here at Shady Shores Elementary!! HELPFUL HINTS FOR PARENTS: *Send your child to school each day, well rested, fed and with a positive outlook! A hug never hurts either! *Show an interest in your child's day. Ask questions about what happens at school each day and how your child feels about it. Be specific! *Try not to let your own negative experiences keep you from supporting and encouraging your child's learning. Remember, you and their teachers want the same thing: to help your child learn! *Set up a quiet, comfortable study area with good lighting and the school supplies that your child needs. *Be available for your child while they are working on homework. If there are questions that can not be answered, contact the teacher! *Just because your child does not have "assigned" homework, spend time going over spelling words, math problems, and READING TO YOUR CHILD daily!! *Ask your child to see their homework after the teacher returns it. This gives you a opportunity to see any problem areas and to PRAISE them for being successful. *Stay in touch with your child's teachers. *Do not do your child's work for them. Help them learn how to do it themselves. *Praise and encourage them! Every single day!
