I hope you all are having a smooth and restful summer.  Please be prepared to begin class on the first day because I plan to use all 180 days of instruction.  You will need the following supplies beginning on the first day of school:
During the 2008-2009 school year,
you will need the following supplies:
Black or blue ink pens for ALL work you turn in for grades.  Use of anything else could result in grade penalties or the ungraded return of the work.
Pencils for use only on computer-graded answer documents and rough drafts.
A three-ring binder devoted solely to your English, history, or journalism class that has dividers for assignments, notes, auxilliary teaching materials (handouts), G-U-M (grammar, usage, mechanics) information, vocabulary and other areas that you may decide on.
Loose leaf notebook paper If you use paper from a spiral, you still will be expected to turn in professional-looking assignments and not ragged scraps of paper.  Paper simply torn out of a spiral may be returned ungraded.

Thank you for visiting my page.  I am a 1978 graduate of Wayland Baptist University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree.  Prior to WBU, I spent four years at The University of Texas at Austin.  I returned to Wayland about 15 years later for my teaching credentials.  Prior to teaching, I spent 10 years in journalism, writing for newspapers in Borger, Pampa, Plainview, and Odessa.  This will be my 15th year of teaching overall and fourth year in Lake Dallas.

There will be morning tutorials from 8 until 8:30.  Tutorials will be held in the afternoons only by request.  Students that are absent are HIGHLY encouraged to attend tutorials in order to catch up with missed assignments.  There will be very little time to do so during regular class periods.

******ELECTRONICS*******
Cell phones, pagers, beepers, iPods, CD players, Walkmans,
and other technological marvels of entertainment and communication
will not be needed in our class.  Please, do not bring them into our classroom.
They will be confiscated according the LDISD Code of Conduct or classroom regulations.
